Prine Time: John Prine Tribute
Prine Time: John Prine Tribute
Prine Time is John Prine Tribute band comprised of an All-Star cast of Michigan
Musicians. Each with their own musical ventures (often, many projects at a time),
they banded together last year for their shared admiration for the many musical
works of master Jedi Songwriter, John Prine.
The band consists of Seth Bernard (Seth Bernard and May Erlewine, Airborne or
Aquatic?, the Starlight Six, Founder of the Earthwork Music Collective), Michael
Beauchamp-Cohen (Red Tail Ring), Mark Lavengood (the Mark Lavengood
Bluegrass Bonanza!, Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys), Dan Rickabus (the Crane Wives,
Airborne or Aquatic?), and Max Lockwood (Big Dudee Roo, Seth Bernard, May
Erlewine). Every artist in Prine Time both sing and play their primary instrument
(Guitars | Bass | Drums | Mandolin | Dobro), and being multi-instrumentalists, the
band loves to swap instruments from song to song throughout the evening’s shows!
All members of Prine Time are actively involved with the Michigan music collective,
Earthwork Music.
Prine Time formed through a series of events. Lavengood spearheaded the
operation by reaching out to the artists (all being musical mentors and personal
favorite performers) and compiling the repertoire and working out arrangements.
When everybody expressed equal parts enthusiasm and intrigue, they hit the
ground running! Somewhere along the tracks, bassist Max Lockwood eloquently
sums it up, “He’s a Midwestern American backwoods bodhisattva!” Drummer Dan
Rickabus adds, “…I can’t wait to reconnect with these fine gentlemen to share in our
love of life, each other, and our community through the vessel of John Prine's
music!” Songsmith Michael Beauchamp-Cohen adds, “…Prine's songs are old friends
whom I visit on a regular basis, a little laughter and a little therapy, equal
parts. Traverse City singer-songwriter Seth Bernard calls John Prine “…a breath of
fresh air, a voice of reason and sanity. He’s like Woody Guthrie and John Stewart
mixed together.”
This fall, Prine Time will be touring throughout Michigan at some of the finest
venues the mitten state has to offer! Prine Time will perform up north at the
esteemed Traverse City Opera House, in Grand Rapids at the historic Wealthy
Theatre, in Ferndale at Salt of the Earth, and in Marshall at the Franke Center for the
Arts. For a complete list of all shows, please visit www.EarthworkMusic.com.
